New Player Advice

Welcome to the game! You can find most of this information in the other Resource sections, but here is what you should know asap for a better game experience!

Teams and Units

Focus on higher ascensions (stars) rather than rarity. SR or even R units can be better than SSRs if they have more stars. Prioritize SR Yakumo as a Healer, SR Olivine as your Support, and SR Quincy and Aster for your damage dealers. SR Morvay is your best Guardian as well.

Leveling is tied to your player rank, which increases based on the stamina you spend. Everywhere has the same stamina/exp ratio, so level where you like.

Raise your intimacy! It costs no coins and will give huge stat increases. You do not need keys to do this if you raise your units to 3 stars or higher.

When raising intimacy, use lower rarity items for lower intimacy rooms, and gradually increase to the higher rarity ones. This is the best way to optimize your intimacy points.

Potential is fine around 4-6. Only increase higher after you've maxed your level and intimacy.

Teams should typically include 1 Support, 1 Healer, and Strikers that work with the Support (check for basic or ultimate attack focuses). A Guardian may be needed for boss stages. Saboteurs are often irrelevant except in rare cases.

Summons and Gems

Only summon on event summons with a pity count on them (x contracts left to an SSR). Otherwise, you cannot guarantee an SSR. Try to only summon when you have enough to hit the SSR pity. Typically, the random SSR guarantee is at 100 summons, and the guaranteed selection box is at 300 summons.

Do not spend pink gems unless you spend real money or are desperate for a rerun banner.

Use your spirit gems to buy energy to complete events! You will get more rewards this way than using them on summoning banners since you will go higher on the ladder. Always try to give priority to completing an event ladder.

Never buy keys with memory crystals. Just buy the character shards to ascend them. You may buy the keys with spirit gems, though, if you feel it is necessary.

Sorcerer Mojo is tied to spending. You can get some free up to chapter 8, so try to make it to there.

Reruns only occur once a year and you cannot currently obtain old units outside of their event time except in rare rerelease banners.

Events

Always focus on events when they are here. They are the best source of every resource in the game.

See Events for guides for each event gimmick.

Do focus on SRs because events will give bonuses when certain SRs are used.

Remember, use spirit gems to replenish your energy so you can finish the ladder. You will not regret it.

Battle

Remember to check the boss status by clicking their HP bar. This will give you important information about their active skills, and may help you if you are unsure of what to do.

Similarly, you can check your characters' status by clicking the menu icon next to the speed icon at the bottom right of the screen. This may show you important effects the boss has cast on you.

Enemy AI is not random. While not all, most common enemies will often focus on the highest HP percentage first, so take advantage of the AI when possible.

Boss AI is more complicated. Please see the ⁠✩* event-guides channel for specifics, but if you are having trouble, consider writing down what happens so you can potentially taunt or guard to change a turn's outcome.

Guard is your friend (swipe down!). Unless there are reasons not to, guard if you are struggling to survive attacks. This is particularly important if you are using heal-over-time healers since they take time to ramp up their healing.

Sometimes it is beneficial to save your ultimate skills rather than using them right away. Align with your support buffers in particular to do more damage or heal more.

Shop

Always purchase the discounted contract bundle for 4800 gems each month.

Spend your buyer's permits on Basic Boosts when available, then extras on Intermediate (purple background) Potential items that are on discount.

If you intend to spend gems in the Mojo Mart, choose Self Portraits or Advanced (gold background) Intimacy Gifts.

Do not ever spend Memory Crystals on keys. Investing them into fragments for the character you want to unlock intimacy is more cost effective and more beneficial to you overall.

You may consider buying keys with gems monthly since they are difficult to obtain outside of events.

Miscellaneous

Daily reset time is at 5:00AM Taiwan (GMT+8). Don't forget to do your dailies!

Raise your N and R units to at least ascension 3 to take advantage of exploration passives. Similarly, they should be level 35 and potential 3 when you are able to so they can fill requirements.

Explorations are the best source of potential materials. They are otherwise obtained in events. Farming in story stages is not recommended.

Intimacy Gifts can be obtained quickest in the daily quests.

Coins are best obtained in the daily coin stage. Yes, you will always be poor.

Join an active guild to obtain weekly rewards and gain access to the guild shop. Active guilds are important to guarantee all rewards can be reached.

Fill your friend list ASAP. You do not interact with your friends, so their level or activity is unimportant. You simply want the Friendship Points from having them on your list.

How to Progress Quickly!

In a hurry to catch up? Even free players can easily begin clearing most story stages and event stages within a few days of playing. This advice will focus on the most efficient way to grind.

For this method to work, you need to constantly spend your stamina potions and blue gems on stamina as much and as soon as possible. You will gain more back by doing so, so don't be afraid!

Try to save your express passes (the things you use when you hit the assault button) for stages that cost 40 or 50 stamina. Once you are ready, you can hit the assault button, use thousands of stamina at once, and instantly rank up several levels.

Starting Out (up to level 20~25)

Play the story stages until you can no longer progress. For half off stamina, continue to use story stages instead of the below advice. Always return every now and then to check your progress and see if you can continue further into the story.
Move on to the Daily Quest stages, particularly Dreamy Days, and repeat the highest stage you can complete of a character of your choice. You can go through all characters to gather gems if you like.

Mid Game (up to level 40-45)

Begin grinding the highest event stage you can manage. Periodically check if you can complete the next one, and move on to it whenever possible.
Remember to go back every so often to see if you can do more story stages. You want to get up to the end of Chapter 8 before stopping since you will receive Mojo, which will increase your friend slots and give you other rewards.

End Game (all the way to 60!)

Grind the highest event stage until you complete the event reward ladder. If multiple events are going on, you can stop when you reach the Contract Bundle and move to the next one.
At this point, you may need more coins and holy water. Play through the Daily Quest stages that use Trade Permits and Explorer's Permits.
